Access in Motion
For many disabled travellers, the biggest challenge isn’t the flight — it’s everything around it.
From check-in to boarding, from security queues to onboard seating, air travel can feel like a test of endurance rather than a gateway to adventure.
At Access Trails UK, we’re beginning to explore how airports and airlines can better support:
- Smooth transitions from arrival to gate
- Mobility equipment handling that’s safe, respectful, and informed
- Sunflower lanyards and quiet spaces for non-visible disabilities
- Assistance that empowers, not overwhelms
- Accessible loos and seating that don’t require a scavenger hunt
We’re also gathering tips from the community — like:
- Booking special assistance at least 48 hours in advance
- Using Tryb4uFly to test cabin layouts before flying
- Knowing your right to bring two pieces of mobility equipment free of charge
- Asking for pre-boarding and aisle chairs if needed
Have you had a flying experience that worked — or didn’t?
Was there a moment of ease, or a barrier that caught you off guard?
Share your story, your tip, or your go-to gear for flying with confidence.
And for the slower reflections and sky-high musings, Bloggyness is always boarding.
