Accessible Adventures: Keswick to Threlkeld Trail

A Scenic Invitation to Move with Care

The Keswick to Threlkeld Railway Trail is a 5km (each way) multi-user path in the Lake District, following the trackbed of the old Cockermouth, Keswick and Penrith railway. Reopened in 2020 after major restoration, the trail now offers a smooth, step-free surface ideal for disabled visitors, families, and cyclists. It winds through the tree-clad Greta Gorge, crosses Victorian bridges, and passes through the Bobbin Mill tunnel, offering dramatic views, wildlife encounters, and emotional spaciousness. Whether you’re walking with wheels, resting by the river, or exploring with companions, this trail welcomes you into a landscape of restored connection, sensory spaciousness, and dignified movement.
