Today, we pause on the trail.
Each year, the 11th of November invites us to stop to listen to the stillness, to feel the ground beneath our feet, and to remember those who gave their tomorrows so we could move freely in ours.
Access is something we talk about often here: access to nature, to movement, to shared spaces and shared peace. But freedom of movement is more than a matter of ramps and routes. It’s a legacy. One carried through generations, by people whose courage made open paths possible.
As we mark this Remembrance Day, we hold space for all who served and sacrificed, and for those who continue to protect the landscapes of peace that we so often take for granted. Whether your path today leads through woodland, along a coastal trail, or simply through your local park, take a moment to look around and breathe gratitude into the air.
Remembrance can be quiet, a thought, a still pause, or the rhythm of a wheelchair rolling to a gentle stop.
What matters is that we take the moment, together, in awareness.
At Access Trails UK, we believe in access not only as a right, but as a form of respect: for people, for history, and for the land that holds our stories.
So, wherever you find yourself today, may your journey be safe, your heart reflective, and your steps or wheels grounded in peace.
Lest we forget.
